Over the last 12 months it’s become clear that our real friends are the makers and developers who love our tools. And looking at the numbers, you’re primarily interested in either HTML5 web development or building a smart-thing without installing a bunch of software and writing a bunch of code. That’s great news for us, because that’s exactly what you get “right out of the box” with the Newbound Network framework.
We’ve refocused our mission to concentrate on serving your needs and working closer with you.
We want you to be able to use as much or as little of the Newbound Network framework as you see fit. At only 10mb it’s a pretty handy library in any app, even if you’re just using it for the double-clickable web server.
On a different note…
There’s been some confusion about whether or not we are Open Source, and I would like to definitively clear that up: We are not.
Our source code is included– that’s not the same thing. It’s there so you can look at it. Verify that it does what it does and not something nefarious. Study it. Learn from it. Help me improve it. But it still remains subject to the Terms and Conditions posted here on this website.
We are also free (as in beer) for non-commercial use. If you want to sell something with the Newbound Network in it, please contact us.
So I understand the confusion, but please do respect our terms. We would love to be Open Source, believe me, but so far the economics just don’t work for us yet. With your help, we’ll get there together. We would like to work closely with you in the coming months to continue to improve and expand our toolset. If you have any suggestions or are interested in contributing to the core development effort, please reach out to me personally.
